Can Colin come out to play?
Go away it’s raining.
Whine, whine whine emotional blackmail.
Throw shoe out of window.
Is that you final answer?
No.
I can’t do anything today. I can’t take photographs and I can’t bring happiness to the smallest heart.
She doesn’t have a heart, she is part of the me generation. Me Me Me! That makes her my sunshine.
Today I am going to take a retrospective look at what a lovely summer it was. Starting with Butterflies. Fizz and I had a good butterfly summer. Regular readers will have seen these pictures, I took them from my media library, new readers will never even have heard of Lord Tusk (Beloved of the Faeries) either way it is just a look back at a great summer and something to do while stupido dog splashes in puddles.
We had the best of summers.
It hasn’t been a bad summer, has it Fluffy?
Not so far.
That one of the butterflies mating is brilliant.

That last critter had as many spots as the butterflies 🙂
Beautiful photos, as usual. You’re spoiling me.

Thanks Clare 🙂 Well it is something to do on an impossible day. Also there might not be many butterflies about over the next couple of months and I shall miss them 🙂

Regarding the shot of the tow butterflies presumably mating – wow. Right spot at the right time.

Thank you David 🙂 Yes it was lucky, although I have found an excellent meadow not far from the farm with a mix of long grass and good areas of short cropped grass abundant with Bird’s-foot Trefoil (The blue’s food plant) There were a lot of Common Blues and probably there was quite a lot of this sort of thing going on too 🙂

Beautiful and fun. Dogs never think about dirt or mud or what they are getting in their mouths. Like little kids. I think we would all be like that more often, if we didn’t have to clean up after ourselves.

Thank you Gigi 🙂 I feel a bit guilty about this. I take Fizz out get her covered in mud and then give her back to her owners, even when she has just got back from the beauty parlour 🙂

Thanks Dennis and thanks for the reblog 🙂 Your about page struck a cord with me. We are kindred spirits with you being the clever one 🙂 Your reading list touched some of my all time favourites, Russian lit, Hemmingway and Sir Arthur. Your take on politicians, “When their lips are moving they are lying,” yes I had noticed that too. I too gave up combing my hair about a year ago. I don’t iron my clothes either, well I don’t iron shirts, just roll the sleeves up and I only iron the legs of my trousers, shirt tails cover the rest 🙂 Nice to meet you.

I just love it when bloggers share ‘a stroll through their photo libraries’. While we all know you take great insect photos, it’s always nice to put a whole series in the one post. It’s certainly been a great summer in the UK. Now the challenge is to find the very best in the day to share as the winter appears on the horizon and the inclement weather makes it’s presence known.
Looks like Fizz will need a ‘wash & blow dry’ every day soon.

Many thanks Joanne 🙂 The Blues are Common Blues, Polyommatus icarus and I love the icarus bit 😉 After the mating pair the first is a male and the next picture a female of the species. That female is a particularly beautiful one. The pattern seems to lose definition and they look quite brown as they age but this was a newly emerged butterfly. Thanks for the comment 🙂

Marbled White looks fantastic….hardly ever seen them. I even had to look up the name on Google! Shame on me.

Thanks Stephen 🙂 There are only certain places where I ever see them, not woodland. They seem to favour overgrown meadows with grass above the knee. I used to walk through such a meadow on my way to work and saw them often and now here there is a similar patch just across from the farm. Distribution is South and South west England and Wales so they should be about in your area, you just have to find the right habitat and the best time to see them is late July 🙂
