I got my first decent chance at a Peacock this afternoon.
Peacocks are really lovely butterflies but I find them hard to photograph. They are dark in all the wrong places, darkness that I want to capture but it is hard to get them in a good light also they are so big, it is a real struggle to get all the important bits in focus at the same time So here are some pictures that I took today.
These are the caterpillars that I am raising so I should have plenty to play with in a week or so. The little monkeys staged a breakout this morning, my cupboard isn’t as secure as I had hoped but I caught them in time and they are back on fresh leaves.

Colin, these are magnificent! Thistle is such a great place to snap butterflies. I think it must be the equivalent of butterfly liquor inside 🙂

Thanks SE 🙂 Thistles are fantastic. Unfortunately recent rains have weighed them down and now they are all across the track, they ain’t half sharp 🙂

Stunning photos. Butterflies are devils to capture, always flitting about and landing on the high branches.

Hi and thanks for the comment. I am not sure from your blog where you are , your Gravatar says Wolverhampton or maybe Poland. Either way you should have a good chance now. In the next couple of weeks the new brood will be emerging and there will be lots of fresh new and beautiful butterflies to photograph 🙂

I live in Wolverhampton and I’m originally from Poland. To be honest with you it’s hard for me to to work gravatar out. Don’t really know what it is for can’t see my pictures that I updated etc. It’s a complete magic for me at the moment. Butterflies you have git there are absolutely beautiful. I only managed to photograph one which was in my room but because my lenses are not so good with small objects I can’t really photograph them the way I want to. I’m looking forward to seeing you photos
