Codlins-and-Cream

Codlins? Cooking apples.

This is Great Willowherb, Epilobium hirsutum. Wikiwotsit gives a variety of names that I would normally ignore but this time they are such pretty names that I think that we should adopt them. How about Apple Pie or Cherry Pie? I like Codlins-and -Cream 🙂

When I first met this plant I knew it as Great Hairy Willowherb, That makes it sound like a Yeti.

When I found it yesterday the sun was very bright and  that is sometimes not the best light for photographing flowers. An easy way around this, if you have the power, is to cast shadow over the flowers and adjust your camera accordingly. I don’t really like that. Although it is a struggle I like to photograph flowers when they are happiest, it’s like capturing a child’s laughter.

Great WillowherbWe will come back to these because they have a seed thing going on that needs to be photographed and in a softer light I am sure that the pictures will be better. For now this was my Codlins-and-Cream as seen yesterday. I hope that you like the pictures.
